Classic Restorations

Darleycross Motors has restored bodywork and paint for a range of classic cars from the 50's to the 80's including Jaguar XK150, E Type, VW Beetle, Porsche, Minis, Mercedes 250 and so on. We do full restorations as well as project work - body and paint only. We are a small outfit with practical experience restoring cars from this period. Our prices are reasonable, enabling the maintenance/restoration of everyday classics. We can do this as we are based in the northwest. We are happy to trailer your car from anywhere in the UK at a nominal cost. Photographic evidence of repairs are emailed to customers regularly.

We will give you a fair assessment of costs when we take on the work with an agreed maximum escalation amount on labour, if you agree to our payment terms.

1966 Jaguar E Type Series 1 4.2

The 1966 OTS is probably the most desirable amongst all the variants. But in the state that it arrived there wasnt a car, but bits and pieces of a car. The end product was a reconstruction restoring original panels, sourcing genuine Jaguar parts and reproductions where repair was not an option. Care was taken to achieve the best possible gaps and shut lines. A custom jig was created to ensure the body did not twist, and a bodyshop dataliner kept measurements dead accurate.

1972 Alfa Romeo GTV2000 Bertone coupe

This is the most torquey of all the GTV Bertone series. A very original car, but very rusty. We will be leaving the engine bay untouched as it is so original. The body will be soda blasted to show up where the major problems are. We will restore the bodywork restoring original panels where possible and using top quality panels available in the market. The body will be welded in the original way, and this time around treated with rust inhibitors like POR15 and Waxoyl and then seam sealed. For a change its going to remain the original Le Mans Blue, and not an Alfa red. It will benefit from some fully reversible changes - 1750 Mark 1 US spec in the front with the 1750 centre heart and 1750 bumper in the rear. Mechanically, the suspension will be made more sporty. And a full new interior. That's about all for the moment. The car will be for sale in August, so we are open to specifications.
